Sweat and body oils that adhere to the fabric can reduce its water-repellent performance. Regular washing and heat treatment help maintain the functionality of the garment.

When Using the “STORM Apparel Care Kit”

and wander recommends using STORM detergent. The Marunouchi and Minamisemba stores offer a refill service.

When Using a Washing Machine

  1. Wash the detergent/fabric softener compartment well before use, as any remaining detergent or fabric softener will reduce effectiveness.
  2. Shake the bottle well and pour the apparel wash into the detergent compartment.
  3. Shake the bottle well and pour the apparel proofer into the fabric softener compartment.
  4. Make sure there is nothing in the garment pockets, loosen the drawcords, close the zipper and Velcro straps, and open the pockets before starting the wash.
  5. Dry the garment in the shade for 20 minutes to allow the water repellent to set, then apply heat with an iron. Use a cloth and set the iron to a low temperature without steam.

When Hand Washing

  1. Make sure there is nothing in the garment pockets, loosen the drawcords, close the zipper and Velcro straps, and open the pockets before starting the wash. When hand washing, we recommend washing only one or two garments at a time.
  2. Shake the bottle well, Pour apparel wash to lukewarm water, stir thoroughly with gloved hands, and wash the garment to ensure the detergent is evenly distributed. Always use 75ml of Apparel Wash and Apparel Proofer, even if you are using less than 20L of warm water.
  3. Rinse thoroughly, as detergent residue on the garment can reduce its water repellency.
  4. Shake the bottle well, add the apparel proofer to the same amount of warm water, stir thoroughly with gloved hands, and rub the garment for a few minutes to ensure the treatment is evenly distributed.
  5. To remove excess water, gently press the garment—do not wring.
  6. Dry the garment in the shade for 20 minutes to allow the water repellent to set, then apply heat according to the garment’s care instructions. If using an iron, place a cloth over the garment, set the iron to a low temperature, and do not use steam.

When Using a neutral detergent

  1. Use a neutral detergent that does not contain bleach, fabric softener, or fluorescent brighteners. To prevent staining or unevenness, do not pour detergent directly onto the garment. Pour it into the detergent compartment, or directly into the water after the washing tank has filled. Avoid using fabric softeners, as some types may interfere with the fabric's performance. Bleach can also cause colors to fade or discolor.
  2. Make sure there is nothing in the garment pockets, loosen the drawcords, close the zipper and Velcro straps, and open the pockets before starting the wash.
  3. Start the wash cycle. If you can set the number of rinse cycles, choose two or more, as any remaining detergent on the garment can reduce its water-repellent performance.
  4. Hang dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area, then apply heat with an iron. Use a cloth, set the iron to a low temperature, and do not use steam.
